South Korea is going to develop laser weapon system capable of shooting down drones sent by North Korea, said by the country’s defense minister on Friday. This is in response to Drones by North Korea which can work at long ranges can be fly with the help of the remote controller.
According to International sources, South Korea is going to develop laser weapon system capable of shooting down drones sent by North Korea, the development will start in 2018 and the final product will be given in 2020 as said by the defense ministry.
The North Korea have about 300 observation drones and around 10 machines which can attack with weapons as per South Korea’s estimates said by defense ministry against North Korean Drone technology.
In the past, south Korea has captured several drones believed to be from the North Korea. South Korean officials have issues over such drones sent by North Korea because they are difficult to detect by radar due to their ability to fly low and small size it may prove difficult to shoot such low-flying drones with normal anti-aircraft weapons even if they are detected.
North Korea, in response to this, denied the possession of Drones and the fly machines which can cause attack remotely at the defined location. By the production of laser system South Korea’s defense become more stable and it will able to shoot down Drones even they are flying low or whatever size they have.
Since 2014, South Korea has found the several of these devices in the area of the border, one of such devices came to fly and photograph the South Korean presidential residence.
In 2016 January, a week after North Korea held its fourth nuclear test, the South Korean Army responded with warning shots at a North Korean drone that enters briefly into its territory.
